"The systematic use of essential oils in holistic treatments to improve physical and emotional well-being"

Clinical aromatherapy is a holistic complementary therapy. The word holistic is derived from the Greek word 'holos' which means whole. This means that an aromatherapist will look at all the different aspects of your life in a full and detailed consultation. This consultation allows the therapist to choose the essential oils and method of application to suit you and your needs.
Aromatherapy is thought to stimulate the body's own healing mechanisms, and help to regain the body's natural balance and harmony.
Aromatherapy is a very relaxing and calming therapy, and may help relieve many ailments, some of which are:
- Stress and anxiety
- Depression
- Insomnia
- Menopausal and menstrual problems
- Chronic back pain
- Muscular aches and pains
- Arthritis
- High blood pressure
- Joint pain
It may be used alongside conventional medical treamtent, and it is very imporatant to note that Aromatherapy should not be used as an alternative to medical treatment. An aromatherapist should never attempt to diagnose, or prescribe.
A typical aromatherapy massage treatment will last around one hour, although the first treatment will take longer to enable the therapist to carry out a full consultation.
